In 1990, Hill joined R-News, a Time Warner-owned, CNN-affiliated 24-hour local news station in Rochester, New York. Here, he produced specials and documentaries, earning accolades for works like "Mission of Hope: Rochester in Haiti" and "Remembering Malcolm X in Rochester."
His documentary "Black Border Warriors," tracing the epic saga of the Seminole Negro Indian Scouts, premiered in 2018, winning Best Feature Length Documentary at the Black International Cinema Berlin Film Festival. The film has since been showcased at various international festivals, including Cannes, and is currently featured at the Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton, Oklahoma.
